BEST MANAGEMENT PRACTICES
Pollution prevention is good business. It helps improve the cleanliness of our waterways and community—and it shows your customers that you care about the community. And it’s simple when you follow your industry’s best management practices (BMPs). Look for ways to reduce runoff into the storm drains, especially in paved areas like loading docks and parking lots.
National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) is a provision of the Clean Water Act that prohibits discharge of pollutants into US waters without a permit. The main pollutants regulated by the NPDES include conventional toxic chemicals and wastewater from commercial and industrial facilities, fecal coliform, oil and grease, pesticides and fertilizers.
